KOBASHI ROSEMARY DRIED LEAVES FLOWERS
Kobashi grown organically, hand picked flowers and cold air dried;
LATIN NAME: Rosmarinus officinalis.
SOURCE: needle-like leaves and flowers
COLOUR: Green and blue.
ORIGIN: Devon, England.
AROMA: Clean with a herby minty slightly woody under tone, characteristic of the fresh herb.
QUALITIES: One of the most stimulating of all the oils and is used in cooking. An ideal 'pick-me-up' aids memory and clear thinking. Rosemary is an ideal choice as it will invigorate the body and protect the psyche. The dried herb was burnt during the middle ages to drive away evil spirits and witches and also to protect against the plague.
A member of the Lamiaceae family, it is a bushy shrub growing up to two metres in height, with long, silvery green needle shaped leaves. Small blue to mauve flowers appear in spring and summer. Rosemary is grown at Kobashi.
We grow the plants here in Devon on our property and have grown them in rows between Chamomile, Rosemary and Catnip; in this way they help to suppress the weeds. The colours are stunning - vibrant. We have grown a large amount this year as a trial. We collected the seeds and are planting on a larger scale in the spring. The land is organically grown, as were the initial seeds.
