Our oils are not certified by the Organic Soil Association, in the letter of the law of the Organic Soil Association.

O.S.A. do their best to make sure the products they certify are from organically certified land. I believe in what they are trying to do, as I feel the same way.

The soil association does not check oils for pesticides, herbicides or phthalates or anything else within the oil, as we do.

Being organically grown does not mean an oil is superior, as many organic crops can be tainted with weeds and may have unknown qualities. I have rejected organically certified oils. I also know companies who have rejected organically certified oils. One, a distiller, which told me not to mention their name, because they have been purchasing oils from the grower for many years, had 4 PPM (parts per million) of a pesticide in a certified Organic Bergamot oil. This may not seem like much, but this is very high for an essential oil, even it is from an expressed oil. Pesticides very rarely are found in a distilled oil when not grown organically. I personally found a herbicide in a organically certified Aloe Vera. I do not buy from that company anymore.

I know a farmer who knows farmers who are certified Organic and he said it is very clear that they are using herbicides.

The Organic Lavender, Organic Calendula and Organic St John's Wort which we grow in Devon is grown on land of a friend of ours. It is certified land by the soil association. Here's the rub: We are not members of the soil association, as we do not want to raise our prices. This does not mean that people like yourself will not force us to join.

Many of the oils we sell are certified by one organic body or another.

Whether or not I join them has nothing to do with what is in the bottle. All it will do if I join is raise the price for you.

I am always buying the best oils that are available and testing every oil to PPM with GC-Ms and GC-Ms head space analysis.

If we think quality is a symbol on a product, then we should think again.

I would be very interested in testing any essential of Bergamot, Jasmine or Rose absolute which is certified Organic.
